A Bit About Me
Dr. Prince Hycy Bull is a full professor and the Dean of the College of Education at Gardner-Webb University, Boiling Spring, North Carolina, USA. Dr. Bull started his teaching career at the Government Technical Secondary School in Freetown, where he taught for four years before migrating to the United States of America.
Dr. Bull attended the Regent Square Municipal School, the Sierra Leone Grammar School, and the Methodist Boys High School. Dr. Bull earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Sierra Leone, Fourah Bay College (FBC), a post-graduate diploma of education from FBC, a master’s degree with honors in Educational Leadership, a master’s degree with honors in Special Education from North Carolina Central University, and a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from North Carolina State University.
Dr. Bull's passion and dedication to the people of Sierra Leone are evident in his advocacy work. Through his YouTube Channel, “True Say, Tok Me,” and his leadership of the Hope for Youths Sierra Leone, Dr. Bull has addressed critical political, social, educational, and economic issues facing the people of Sierra Leone. His commitment to educating the next generation of Sierra Leoneans and promoting good governance is unwavering. Dr. Bull served as the Sierra Leone Triangle Association president for five years. He is a member of the Krio Descendant Union of North Carolina and the CEO and Founder of Hope for Youths-Sierra Leone, an organization in 12 of the 16 districts of Sierra Leone designed to empower youths as innovative and visionary leaders.
Dr. Bull's personal life is a testament to his commitment and balance. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Gloria, for 44 years, a journey that began with courtship and blossomed into a strong marriage. They have three wonderful children: Dr. Lisle Bull Smart, an educational policy expert; Dr. Lynea Bull, an Emergency Medicine Physician and Professor at Vanderbilt Medical School; and Mr. Hycyjay Bull, a second-year graduate architectural candidate at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. In his spare time, Dr. Bull loves writing poems, making a garden, painting, and cooking.
